Aly Brown

Founder

Aly Brown is the founder of the Brighter Days Initiative, an organization dedicated to bringing hope, safety, and practical support to those seeking to escape domestic violence. Aly’s idea for Exit Buddy and the Brighter Days Initiative was born from her own personal experiences with domestic violence and her deep desire to help others find safety and empowerment.

In addition to her work with Brighter Days Initiative, Aly serves as the Employee Health Coordinator for American Fork and Orem Community Hospitals. A Registered Nurse for more than sixteen years, her background includes twelve years in Emergency Departments across the country and four years as a Scrub Nurse in the Operating Room at Riverton Hospital. In every role, she has shown steadfast compassion and a commitment to the well-being of others.

Through Brighter Days Initiative, Aly hopes to make Exit Buddy available in workplaces, on college campuses, and through community partners—and eventually through a mobile unit—to ensure that no one facing domestic violence feels alone, unprepared, or without options. Her mission is simple yet powerful: to help others find safety, support, and their own brighter days ahead.

Caleb Oshier

Caleb Oshier started his medical career as an EMT/Firefighter then moved on to paramedic and eventually made it to becoming a Registered Nurse. Caleb’s experience in the field as well as in the hospital has given him a broad view of community and healthcare needs. His hospital experience has consisted of a short stint in the Newborn ICU as well as surgical services and employee health. COVID shook things up and Caleb was able to float to ICU and the Emergency Room to help with the increased needs as well as doing COVID shot clinics. Caleb is a father of 6 and is actively engaged in coaching club soccer and raising a flock of ski bums.

How did this all get started?

The Brighter Days Initiative originated from a pilot program developed by our founder, Aly, during her professional tenure. This foundational concept, known as The Exit Buddy, was designed to provide critical, rapid support for employees seeking to escape domestic or intimate partner violence.

Since its inception, the mission of the Brighter Days Initiative has evolved significantly. Beyond its initial scope, Aly envisions expanding The Exit Buddy into a specialized caregiver and patient program. Our long-term strategic goals include:

  • Community Integration: Implementing The Exit Buddy program within local businesses and college campuses.
  • Strategic Partnerships: Collaborating with local police and fire departments to enhance safety networks.
  • Mobile Advocacy: Establishing a mobile response team to provide on-site assistance.
